Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Blood Container/Tube: Light-blue top (3.2% sodium citrate)

Specimen Volume:90% full tube

 

Collection Instructions:  When using butterfly, draw a discard tube prior to sodium citrate tube. The tube must remain stoppered. Clotted or hemolyzed blood or an insufficient specimen is not acceptable.

 

Heparin: Draw Anti-XA while heparin is running.
Lovenox: Draw Anti-XA 4 hours after the dose of Lovenox is given.

Specimen must arrive in laboratory within 4 hours of draw.
