Specimen Requirements

Specimen must arrive in laboratory within 72 hours of draw.

Specimen Type: Infant cord blood in Lavender top (EDTA).

Specimen Volume: 1 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Invert several times to mix blood

2. Label tube with mother’s last name, “NB” mother’s first name, newborns date of birth, MRN if available, date and time of collection, collector initials.

3. If there is a delay in testing, the specimen can be stored at 2-8 C.
