Specimen Requirements

Specimen must arrive in laboratory immediately after collection. Specimen Type: Cervical. Container/Tube: Fetal fibronectin swab supplied. Specimen Volume: Swab. Collection Instructions: Specimen must be obtained prior to digital exam.2. Do not contaminate swab with lubricants, soaps, or disinfectants. 3. Obtain an ectocervical specimen with swab. Lightly rotate swab across cervical os or posterior fornix. 5. Remove swab and place in collection tube.
