Specimen Requirements

Specimen must arrive in laboratory within 4 hours of draw.

Specimen Type: Blood Container/Tube: Light-blue top (3.2% sodium citrate)

Specimen Volume: 90% full tube

Collection Instructions: Patient should not receive heparin within 1 hour of draw. When using butterfly, draw a discard tube prior to sodium citrate tube. Specimen tube must remain stoppered, do not uncap. Clotted or hemolyzed blood or an insufficient specimen is not acceptable.
