Test Code MVP Vaginitis Panel by PCR (MVP)

Important Note

This rapid molecular assay will replace wet mount testing for female patients 14 years of age and older. For patients younger than 14 years, please continue to order a genital culture or wet mount, as clinically indicated.

The MVP simultaneously detects the three most common infectious causes of vaginitis:

  • Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) associated bacteria
  • Vulvovaginal Candidiasis (VVC) Candida species
  • Trichomonas vaginalis (TV)

Collection Requirements

  • Collect one vaginal swab using the Xpert Swab Specimen Collection Kit.
  • Specimens may be transported an dstored at room temperature or refrigerated
  • Samples are stable for up to 42 days following collection.
