Specimen Requirements
Submit only 1 of the following specimens: Specimen Type: Venipuncture and arterial bloodContainer/Tube: Plastic collection device (either a plastic syringe or plastic evacuated tube)Specimen Volume: 0.5 mLCollection Instructions:>1. Collection technique resulting in good blood flow must be used.2.Specimen should be immediately dispensed into the sample well of a cartridge. A drop of blood should be touched against bottom of sample well. Once in contact with sample well, the blood will be drawn into the cartridge.3. If a second measurement is required, a fresh specimen should be obtained.Note: 1. Some experts recommend drawing and discarding a (venous) sample of at least 1 mL prior to drawing specimen for coagulation testing.2. Rejection criteria include use ofanticoagulants such as heparin, EDTA, oxalate, or citrate; orclot activators or serum separators.Specimen Type: In-dwelling line bloodContainer/Tube: Plastic collection device (either a plastic syringe or plastic evacuated tube)Specimen Volume: 0.5 mLCollection Instructions:1. Fluid drip through the line must be discontinued.2.
