Specimen Requirements
For accurate test results, apply samples from bowel movements collected on 3 different days to 3 separate cards. Specimen Type: Stool, random collectionContainer/Tube: Hemoccult cardSpecimen Volume:5 gCollection Instructions:1. For the most accurate test results, collect each stool sample before contact with toilet bowl water.Use any clean, dry container.2. Do not collect sample if blood is visible in stool or urine (eg, menstruation, active hemorrhoids, urinary tract infection).3. Protect card from heat, light, and volatile chemicals (eg, ammonia, bleach, bromine, iodine and household cleaners).Additional Information:For 7 days before and during the stool collection period, patient should avoid non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), naproxen or aspirin (more than 1 adult aspirin a day).
